Sun - Living in Finland Thumbnail

GOAL I will live in Finland in 2026 (before July)

LIDL at Helsinki, before moving permanently to Oulu
LIDL or entrepreneurship

Why Finland ?

  • An appreciation of cold and snowy landscapes.
  • An appreciation of not being “like the others”
  • Unlike Quebec, a fairly strong culture of introversion
  • The temperature is moderatly cold
  • The length of the day is intriguing
  • Fun fact : the project’s origins lie in a desire to work for an Irish McDonald’s. I have respect for Ireland but this country is not made for me. Aha ! I had Finland in the back of my mind.
  • Why Finland and not an other country ? => In search of an introverted country by excellende
  • Japan ? The working world (long hours/forced meetings after work) is problematic.
  • Sweden / Norway => too popular countries. We can also put Iceland. Between IKEA, fjords and volcanoes, no thanks to clichés.
  • Finland : if I didn’t have to change my personality this is the country that would suit me best.
  • Vision and dreams : living in Finland thanks to an internet-based entrepreneurial project.
  • My two projects => Living in Finland (I would like to sell one or more structuring courses) and Learn English in your own way (in French) (the same, based on modular exercises)
  • Test salaried employment to be surronded by people like me… And just… Spend time with people…
A trip to Helsinki from january 11 to 13, 2025 precised the dreams. More coming later.

Fears and uncertainties

  • The remotness with family is not specialy a problem. However I’ll need to be surronded to get through the winter.
  • In entrepreneurship fear is a special concept. It’s better to reduce fear (thanks to the mental conditioning and for mental tests, to say “I’m scared but I’m doing it anyway”)
  • The project is very long. Even if it will be successful, the project is not light.

The challenge of adaptation

  • Learn Finnish language.
  • Easy integration in the country but excessively hard in the working world (in addition to the closed aspect of the Finns)
  • Developing the art of networking BEFORE living there. Networking with people, giving time, be able to sell (it’s clearly the hardest)

My relationship with time and deadlines

  • 1st semester of 2026
The the only unfair asset : living with my parents, periods at home possible.
  • Emotions : apprehension, a little ! But I don’t support routine.
  • Mental preparation and logistics : let’s trust on instinct and personal development 🙂

Impact on those around me

  • Instead of waiting for agreement from the others, I cower myself and go for it

My dreams for this new life

  • Discovering the country in extreme depth. And the links with Sweden ? Or Estonia ?
  • My goal is to blend in with the Finnish people. Too bad, the authentic accent is game over (or not 😁)
  • Have… Children ?! It’s soo far away. Literally have Finnish blood AHEUM.
  • Just enjoying living in a country where there’s no cultural adaptation to be had since the country is made for me (actually the country is suitable for everyone).

The obstacles that motivates me

  • I don’t like talking about obstacles.
  • Obstacles are solved throuugh personal development. Have a solid knowledge of personal development and everything will be accessible to you.

Emotional projection

  • Life can be divided into two opportunities: constant learning, and routine.
  • Living in Finland will be a transition to a form of routine. Once settled, longer rest periods and a hardening shell.
  • Quite simply, a second life. Crossing borders both geographical and symbolic. Perhaps the start of a third life in Oulu.

Courage, nothing is impossible in life, but it’s up to me to prove it. See you soon!
